Ontario Regional Immigration Pilot (REDI)
The Ontario Regional Immigration Pilot, now known as the Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) Pilot, is an initiative under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) aimed at attracting skilled foreign workers to specific communities facing labor shortages. This pilot facilitates economic growth in these regions by streamlining immigration pathways for individuals with job offers in designated areas.
🌍 What Is the REDI Pilot?
Launched to address workforce needs in smaller communities, the REDI Pilot focuses on attracting skilled immigrants to regions experiencing labor shortages. By leveraging the existing OINP streams, the pilot offers targeted opportunities for candidates willing to settle in these areas.
🏘️ Participating Communities
As of 2025, the REDI Pilot includes the following communities:
Lanark, Leeds and Grenville
Sarnia–Lambton
Thunder Bay
These regions have been identified based on their specific labor market needs and the potential benefits of immigration to their local economies.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the REDI Pilot, applicants must:
Meet the requirements of one of the following OINP Employer Job Offer streams:
Foreign Worker Stream
International Student Stream
In-Demand Skills Stream
Have a full-time, permanent job offer from an employer located within one of the participating communities.
There are no additional criteria specific to the REDI Pilot beyond those required by the applicable OINP stream.
