Visitor Record Extension
What is a Visitor Record extension?
A visitor record extension is an application made from inside Canada to extend your legal stay as a visitor. It does not give you the right to work or study, but it allows you to remain in Canada lawfully beyond the original expiry date of your visitor status. Once a complete application is submitted before your status expires, you benefit from maintained status and can stay in Canada until a decision is made by IRCC.
Who might need a Visitor Record extension?
A visitor record extension may be needed if you require more time in Canada for family reasons, ongoing medical treatment, pending immigration applications, or other legitimate temporary purposes. It is commonly used by visitors waiting for a permanent residence process, spouses or partners of Canadians or permanent residents who are not yet eligible for an open work permit, or individuals who need to maintain lawful status while planning their next immigration step.
How much does a Visitor Record extension cost?
Our legal fees: $400-700
IRCC processing fees: $100
